Bread stays fresh for longer in a Swiss stone pine bread box
Whether for breakfast, snack or dinner: Fresh bread simply tastes wonderful . The smell of freshly baked bread alone makes our mouths water. To keep bread fresh and crispy, it must be stored correctly. Otherwise it quickly becomes hard and inedible. There are various ways to do this. From simple cloth bread bags to designer stainless steel bread bins. In this article, you will find out how to keep bread fresh and crispy for longer . And why there is nothing better for storing bread than a bread bin made of Swiss stone pine .
Nothing tastes as delicious as freshly baked bread. And nothing becomes hard and inedible as quickly as freshly baked bread. People who love fresh bread are therefore sooner or later faced with the anxious question: "What can I do to keep my bread fresh for longer?" Some keep their bread in a cloth bread bag. Others leave their bread in the paper bag they received from the bakery. Still others put their bread in a wooden, ceramic or metal bread box.
Most Swiss kitchens probably have one of these bread bins. Bread bins are available in a wide variety of colors and materials. The classic is the metal bread bin. It is inexpensive, easy to clean and, with its neutral design, goes well with any kitchen decor. Boxes made of ceramic or wood are also very popular. However, not all bread bins keep bread equally fresh . There are big differences between the various materials. And there are even big differences between a wooden bread bin and a bread bin made of Swiss stone pine.
Not all bread bins are the same
A good bread bin ensures that the bread inside can breathe. If a bread bin lets too little air through, it becomes too damp inside and the bread starts to go moldy. Bread bins made of ceramic, plastic and metal therefore have a raised base or air slots on the sides. This is not necessary with wooden bread bins: Wood breathes and regulates the climate inside in a natural way . This makes a wooden bread bin the perfect place to store fresh bread . It is almost never too damp or too dry in a wooden bread box. The ecosystem inside a bread box adapts perfectly to the room climate and the bread .
This is why bread stored in a wooden bread bin stays fresh for longer than bread stored in a metal bread bin. A wooden bread bin is therefore the best way to store bread. But which wood? There is a large selection of wooden bread bins. There are bread bins made of beech, bamboo, pear and many other types of wood . The absolute best wood for a bread bin comes from the Alps - Swiss stone pine. Also known as Swiss stone pine in Germany and Austria. Swiss stone pine offers many advantages over other woods . It is particularly beautiful to look at, has a wonderfully aromatic scent, is sustainable and, unlike most other types of wood, has an antibacterial effect. And as we all know, nothing is more important in the kitchen than hygiene.
The Swiss stone pine - a tree with tradition
The evergreen Swiss stone pine comes from the pine family. Depending on the language region, it is also called stone pine or Swiss stone pine. The Swiss stone pine resembles a fir tree in appearance and grows in two different areas: in the Central Alps and in the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe. There, Swiss stone pines grow up to 25 meters tall. The Swiss stone pine is also very robust and can withstand temperatures of up to -43 degrees Celsius. The wood of the Swiss stone pine has a strong aromatic forest scent. This is why it is often used as furniture and carving wood - or in the kitchen for bread bins and chopping boards.
Swiss stone pine wood can look back on a long tradition in the Alps as furniture and carving wood . Nowadays, products made from Swiss stone pine are also increasingly found in the lowlands due to its antibacterial and calming effect. For example, as a room fragrance or as filling material for comforters and pillows. Swiss stone pine is said to have many positive properties: Among other things, it repels annoying insects such as flies and moths, has a calming and mood-enhancing effect and improves sleep. Researchers have studied Swiss stone pine wood in detail and attribute these properties to the ingredient pinosylvin. Pinosylvin is a chemical compound that occurs as a gas in the heartwood of the Swiss stone pine. This causes the typical Swiss stone pine scent and protects the wood from fungal attack. A Swiss stone pine bread bin therefore not only reliably protects bread from drying out - a Swiss stone pine bread bin also contributes greatly to a pleasant indoor climate and has a calming effect on anyone working in the kitchen.
This is why you should store your bread in a Swiss stone pine bread box
The scent of Swiss stone pine wood creates a pleasant feeling and a good atmosphere in the kitchen. It is also a sustainable alternative to other materials and goes well with any interior design style. But there is much more to this extraordinary wood: as pinosylvin acts as a natural fungal toxin in nature, it has a strong antibacterial effect. This makes Swiss stone pine wood a particularly hygienic material, especially for the kitchen. Chopping boards made of Swiss stone pine have therefore long enjoyed great popularity. The Swiss stone pine bread bin works on the same principle: as it is very difficult for bacteria and mold to settle in the wood, the bread is less susceptible to mold and other bacteria.
A Swiss stone pine bread box is therefore far more hygienic than a plastic or metal bread box . Swiss stone pine wood has even more advantages over plastic and metal. As a natural material, it can breathe and regulate itself. It creates its own climate inside a bread box. This climate creates the best conditions for bread to stay fresh for longer. However, if bread in a bread bin becomes moldy or hard, a bread bin can compensate for this.
How to store bread in a Swiss stone pine bread box
Before the bread goes into the Swiss stone pine bread bin, another question arises: Where is the best place to put the Swiss stone pine bread bin? Does it even matter where a bread bin is placed? The answer is: Yes, it does matter where a Swiss stone pine bread bin is placed! Ideally, the Swiss stone pine bread bin should be free-standing - this means that it does not touch any walls or other kitchen appliances. This allows the bread bin to breathe and the bread inside stays fresh for longer. In small kitchens, where there is not much space available for the bread bin, the general rule is: place the bread bin against the wall rather than the window and against the window rather than next to kitchen appliances. Kitchen appliances such as the stove, steamer and oven cause fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Depending on the time of year, it can also be either very warm or very cold by the window. Neither is ideal for a wooden bread bin.
Once the right place has been found, the bread is placed in the bread bin. It will stay freshest if you wrap it in a cloth or place it in the bakery's paper bag in the bread bin. This prevents the bread from absorbing the taste of the Swiss stone pine. Do not store the bread in a plastic bag. This is because the bread starts to sweat in a plastic bag. The moisture can cause mold. But don't be put off if the bread in a Swiss stone pine bread box becomes moldy or dries out quickly: Swiss stone pine wood must first get used to the climate in your home and adapts better and better to the environment over time.
What to do if bread dries out quickly?
If the bread in your Swiss stone pine bread box dries out quickly, it is because it is too dry in the box . This is usually caused by the room climate - Swiss stone pine wood adapts to the humidity in the room . If you do not find the air in the room itself too dry, it is best to increase the humidity in the bread bin:

Place a glass of water in the box
Wipe the box several times a day with a damp cloth (inside and outside)
Wrap the bread in a damp cloth before placing it in the box
Close the bread bin properly: Make sure that the lid is fully in place on the bread bin. If the box is not closed properly, moisture can escape and the bread will harden. Despite the perfect climate inside the box.

What to do if bread starts to go moldy?
If fresh bread starts to go moldy quickly, it is probably because the climate in the bread box is too humid . In this case, the bread bin can no longer regulate itself by allowing the wood to breathe. There are two reasons for this: Either the bread or the room climate is too damp. You can compensate for both. First of all, however, it is important that you clean your Arven bread bin carefully . To do this, carefully wipe the entire bread box with acid and water. Vinegar, lemon juice or citric acid are ideal. Dilute the acid with water. Then dry the bread box in the sun. Molds do not like UV radiation. However, the bread bin should not be placed directly in the blazing midday sun - it is best to dry it in the morning or evening. To ensure that your Arven bread bin remains mold-free after cleaning, we have put together a few tips on how to avoid moisture in your bread bin.

Do not defrost frozen bread in the bread bin
Only put ready-baked bread in the bread bin
Do not store your bread in a plastic bag
Do not put too much bread in the bread bin at once (the lid must lie flat on the bread bin)

If the bread in your bread bin starts to go moldy despite all these tips , the humidity in the room is probably the cause . New bread bins in particular need some time to get used to the room climate - the longer the Swiss stone pine bread bin is in your kitchen, the better the wood will cope with a slightly more humid climate. If the mold doesn't get better after a while, you don't have to buy an expensive dehumidifier straight away: It is enough to place the bread box in the sun from time to time to allow the moisture to escape.
How to keep your Arve lunch box hygienically clean

One of the many advantages of Swiss stone pine is that the wood is less susceptible to bacteria than plastic, for example. Nevertheless, you should give your bread bin some attention and clean it regularly. To do this, remove the crumbs and wipe the wood with a damp cloth. Make sure that the wood does not get too wet: Because too much moisture damages the wood.
A damp cloth is not always enough to get a Swiss stone pine bread bin clean again. This is the case, for example, with fingerprints or splashes that occur during cooking. You can easily remove such stains with a light sandpaper. As a nice side effect, sanding releases a new Swiss stone pine fragrance.

Silver fir puts you in a good mood and helps with inflammation and tension
Silver fir has been valued as a medicinal plant since ancient times. In the Middle Ages, it was regarded as a symbol of strength and life . Today, silver fir balm and silver fir spray are popular household remedies . Among other things, they help with exhaustion , tiredness , mood swings and bad dreams . The immune system also benefits from the natural healing power of silver fir: silver fir essential oil has a strong antiviral and antibacterial effect and helps with colds, flu, earaches and sinusitis.
The silver fir or silver fir belongs to the pine family . It grows in Canada, North America, East Asia, Central and Southern Europe. The name "silver fir" is derived from its striking light gray bark . Silver firs love cold, wet and clayey soils. At the same time, they cannot do without warmth: The more sunshine a silver fir gets, the faster it grows.
In Switzerland , silver firs grow mainly in the Jura at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,300 meters. At this altitude, the trees cool down more at night than in lower-lying regions. In addition, the needles are exposed to more intense sunlight in the morning dew. This triggers chemical processes that are responsible for the typical lemon scent that is characteristic of Swiss silver firs.
A popular remedy since ancient times
The silver fir has a light gray trunk that is covered with branches down to the ground. The branches grow criss-cross outwards and slightly upwards. This gives the silver fir its fluffy appearance and means that the branches lie close together. The tree grows in a cone shape, which means that it becomes narrower and narrower from the bottom to the top until only a single branch sticks straight up at the very top. The needles are flat and broad and do not prick.
Fir trees are the largest trees in Europe. Silver firs grow between 30 and 50 meters high. The largest silver fir stands in Montenegro and measures almost 60 meters. There are only 17 fir trees in the world that are taller than the silver fir in Montenegro. Silver firs grow quickly and last a lifetime. Under optimal conditions, they can live for over 500 years. The age of a silver fir can be easily determined by its annual rings.
The silver fir was already described as a medicinal plant by Dioscorides in the 1st century . Later, Hippocrates referred to the healing properties of silver fir resin in his works. Hildegard von Bingen raved about the effect of silver fir resin in the treatment of fresh wounds. Last but not least, herbalist Kneipp also described the healing effect of silver fir in his works.
Silver fir spray replaces a walk in the woods

Forest walks provide new energy and a clear head. The typical forest scent plays a decisive role in this. The scent comes from chemical compounds in the trees, known as terpenes. These protect silver firs and other trees from natural enemies such as bark beetles, fir lice and silver fir beetles. In contrast to the pests, humans react extremely positively to terpenes. Among other things, they strengthen the immune system. The body absorbs them through the skin and respiration.
But you don't always have time for a long walk in the woods. And sometimes the bad weather spoils your desire to go for a walk in the woods. In these and many other cases, you can easily bring the soothing effect of a forest walk into your home and "spray a forest into your living room" with a silver fir room spray .
Silver fir essential oil
Silver fir essential oil is obtained by distilling needles and twig tips . Around 200 kilograms of young twigs are needed to produce one kilogram of silver fir essential oil. They are exposed to hot steam for around five hours. This releases the beneficial substances from the needles and tips of the branches.
The hot steam rises through a tube and enters a cooler. There the water separates from the essential oil. The oil then floats on the surface of the water and can be easily skimmed off. Pure silver fir essential oil is a natural alternative to chemical substances for many ailments.
Silver fir is also an ideal sauna fragrance . 1 to 2 drops of silver fir essential oil is all you need. Sauna sessions with the scent of silver fir are ideal for boosting the body's defenses and strengthening the immune system . Silver fir oil is also ideal for meditation. It clears the mind and helps to release blockages. In addition, silver fir oil protects against nightmares, hatred of certain people and negative thoughts.

Silver fir essential oil for colds and infections
People who want to treat infections and illnesses in a natural way have an effective alternative with silver fir essential oil: silver fir essential oil effectively combats bacteria and viruses and is a natural household remedy for colds, flu, coughs, earaches and sinusitis. The reason: silver fir essential oil is rich in antioxidant polyphenols and provitamin A.
Antioxidants such as polyphenols and provitamin A help the body to render free radicals harmless. Free radicals are aggressive oxygen molecules that are extremely damaging to the body. They damage the genetic material of healthy cells, destroy cell walls, attack the body's own proteins and accelerate the ageing process. Antioxidants capture free radicals and other harmful substances and render them harmless. This also applies to bacteria and viruses. Both the silver fir aroma spray and the silver fir room spray are made with pure silver fir essential oil.
Silver fir hydrosol
Anyone who sits on an office chair all day or, on the contrary, has to stand all day and has no opportunity to sit down, will sooner or later suffer from muscle pain and tension. Intensive endurance and strength training can also put a lot of strain on the muscles and cause pain and tension. And sometimes you simply sleep badly and wake up in the morning with tension.
If you don't want to resort to chemical painkillers and ointments despite the severe pain, you have a natural alternative with silver fir hydrolate . The provitamin binds to various proteins in the body, which promote the formation of new cells. This allows the muscles to regenerate better. Last but not least, silver fir hydrosol relaxes muscle pain and tension.
Scent of silver fir for the psyche
The scent of silver fir in the office, bedroom or living room gives you the feeling of being in the middle of a forest. The soothing scent stimulates the production of the chemical messengers noradrenaline and dopamine . The two neurotransmitters have an uplifting and invigorating effect and trigger real feelings of happiness.
The silver fir spray strengthens resistance in all life situations and is a real "spray for happiness". At the same time, it boosts self-confidence. In difficult life situations, the scent of silver fir helps you to see things clearly and makes it easier to make decisions. In cases of mental exhaustion, bad dreams and mental imbalance, the scent of silver fir restores inner peace.
Use of silver fir aroma balm
Apply the balm to the back of the neck, temples, wrist, under the nose, on the pulse or in the palms of the hands . Massage it in and inhale the pleasant fragrance slowly and deeply.
Application of silver fir room spray
Distribute the aroma spray around the room with 2-3 sprays or spray it on your pillow, sofa or armchair.
Silver fir trees used to be popular as Christmas trees
Most people think of Christmas trees when they think of silver firs. In fact, the silver fir was the Christmas tree par excellence for a long time. Nowadays, silver firs rarely find their way into our living rooms . The Nordmann fir and the silver fir have replaced the silver fir as the Christmas tree , as these trees keep their needles longer at room temperature. From the outside, however, the firs are hardly distinguishable from each other.
Silver firs are not spruces
At first glance, silver firs and spruces are almost indistinguishable. Both belong to the pine family. But the silver fir is not a spruce: firs have a light-colored trunk. The trunk of the spruce is red to brown. Spruce and silver fir also differ in their needles: spruce needles prick, while fir needles do not.
Another important difference between spruce and silver fir is the root system : the spruce puts its roots deep into the ground . The spruce spreads its roots shallowly below the surface of the ground . This difference only becomes apparent when a storm hits the forest: Spruce trees are more likely to bend over in a storm as they are less robust than fir trees.
Fir cones: the fruit of the silver fir
Fir cones are typical of fir trees. But not all cones are the same: every conifer - fir, spruce, pine and larch - has its own typical cones. These cones all have something in common: they are the fruits of their conifers. They ensure the reproduction of the tree by spreading their seeds throughout the forest. The cones of the silver fir are initially greenish , later orange-brown and finally light brown . They stand upright like candles on the branches and grow up to 18 centimetres long.
Bark beetles endanger silver firs
The bark is the outermost layer of the tree. Young silver firs have a smooth, light gray bark with mostly small resin blisters. From the age of 40 to 60 years, the silver fir develops a white to dark gray scaly bark. The scale bark is very coarse, the inner bark is reddish-brown.
Prolonged drought causes extreme damage to silver firs . Weakened silver firs are very susceptible to bark beetles. The beetles infest the trees and eat their way through the bark. In infested trees, the bark peels off and the crown turns reddish to brown. To contain the infestation of bark beetles, felled or diseased trees should be removed from the forest as quickly as possible. The bark of trees that cannot be removed must be cut off.
Silver fir wood is popular for furniture
Most trees consist of heartwood and sapwood. The heartwood is the dead wood inside the tree trunk. It is usually much darker than the outer part of the tree and its structure is very water-poor and firm. Heartwood is often used to make furniture. Popular heartwood species are pine, oak and teak . Not all trees form heartwood. These trees are called sapwood trees.
The outer part of the tree trunk is the sapwood. Sapwood is the young, active wood below the tree bark. The capillaries of the sapwood carry water and nutrients up to the crown of the tree. Sapwood is significantly lighter in color and softer than heartwood. The most popular types of sapwood for furniture are birch and hornbeam . Both the heartwood and the sapwood of silver fir are light gray. They cannot be distinguished by color. This is why silver fir furniture is made from heartwood and sapwood. Silver fir wood is very popular because it copes very well with moisture and does not yellow easily.

                 Essential oils / scented oils

Essential oils are effective against bacteria , fungi and viruses , reduce inflammation , strengthen the immune system and regenerate the body . Last but not least, they increase joie de vivre , calm the nerves and improve well-being. Quality is crucial: only pure natural essential oils contain all the active ingredients of a plant.

Every plant has active ingredients that help it to grow and thrive. Many of these active ingredients have a similar effect on humans as they do on plants. Essential oils are made from the flowers, bark, seeds and roots of plants . They contain all the active ingredients in concentrated form. However, the term "oil" is not entirely accurate. In contrast to "fatty oils", essential oils do not contain any fats. However, they are fat-soluble.

Essential oils can be used in many different ways. For example, for flavoring food (aromatic cuisine) and for skin care (natural cosmetics ). However, essential oils are most often absorbed through the nose. They are placed in fragrance lamps, dripped onto fragrance sticks or diffused in the room using special aroma diffusers . In this way, the active ingredients enter the body via the nasal mucosa, where the fragrance molecules have an effect on the brain and the limbic system.

Essential oils do not require a medical degree

The French military surgeon Dr. Jean Valnet is considered the founder of modern aromatherapy. He used the findings of herbal medicine and treated wounded soldiers in the Indochina War with essential oils. He achieved remarkable healing successes. After the war, he showed his professional colleagues how to use essential oils in their work.

Among other things, he published a book entitled "Aromathérapie: les Huiles Essentielles Hormones Végétales". It was the first medical book on essential oils and aromatherapy. However, Dr. Jean Valnet repeatedly emphasized that even people without medical training can benefit from the advantages of essential oils - as long as they study aromatherapy intensively and use essential oils carefully.

The production of essential oils

Large quantities of plant-based raw materials are required for the production of essential oils. For example, five kilograms of rose petals for one gram of rose oil. And as much as seven kilograms of lemon balm herb for one gram of lemon balm oil. During production, the plant parts are distilled: The hot steam and gentle pressure release the essential oils from the plant parts. While the steam mixture flows through a condenser and is cooled, the oil separates from the water. It floats to the top and can be skimmed off.

For optimum quality, the temperature and pressure must be perfectly matched. If the heat or pressure is too low, the valuable oil will not be released. If the pressure is too high, the structure and effect of the oil can change. Another method of producing essential oils is cold pressing. In cold pressing, the peels are rasped to open the "oil containers". This process is particularly used for citrus fruits: The oil is washed out with water, centrifuged and filtered. As the harmful substances are not removed during cold pressing, controlled cultivation of the fruit is particularly important.

Only naturally pure essential oils contain all the active ingredients

Many fragrances today are produced synthetically. The products look confusingly similar to bottles of natural essential oils and therefore often mislead consumers. Synthetically produced fragrances are significantly cheaper than natural essential oils. However, they do not contain all the plant substances and therefore cannot develop the full spectrum of effects of essential oils.

Essential oils are a natural product obtained from plants . Nevertheless, a few safety rules must be observed when using them: Essential oils must be diluted with water for ingestion and with a carrier oil for creaming. To prevent allergic reactions, essential oils should also be tested on a small area of skin. For example, essential oils from citrus fruits increase photosensitivity. For this reason, you should avoid the sun after applying citrus oil.

Essential oils in the nursery

Essential oils are also excellent for calming children and making it easier for them to fall asleep . Essential oils must be diluted for small children and babies. Eucalyptus -oregano and tea tree oil can also be too strong in diluted form. Therefore, talk to a medical professional if you want to use essential oils in the nursery.
Only store essential oils in blue, brown or green glass bottles. Store the bottles in a dark, cool place and note the expiration date: most oils can be stored for several years, but some can only be kept for one year. These include essential oils from citrus fruits, needles and tea tree oil.

Essential oils in everyday life

Air purifier

Swiss stone pine , eucalyptus , lavender and tea tree are excellent natural air purifiers. For example in offices, surgeries and living spaces. Scented woods , climate boxes , humidifiers and room fans are ideal for this purpose. Particularly clever contemporaries add a few drops of aromatic oil to the vacuum cleaner bag. Then it not only looks great after cleaning - it smells great too!

Disinfectant

Disinfectants effectively combat bacteria and viruses. But they smell rather unpleasant. Therefore, add a few drops of Swiss stone pine oil , eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil to your disinfectant. This way, your home or office will not smell strongly of alcohol after disinfecting. Instead, it will smell pleasantly soothing or freshly motivating with your favorite fragrance.

In addition to mono fragrances, you can also use ready-made fragrance mixtures for the aromatization of disinfectants. For example, " Fresh Air ", " Good Mood " or Winter Magic . Use them to disinfect tables, door handles, toilet lids and all other surfaces and you will kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, you kill bacteria and viruses. On the other hand, you spread a pleasant, fresh fragrance everywhere.

Swiss stone pine cushions / Swiss stone pine pillows ensure deep, restful sleep

Swiss stone pine pillows and Swiss stone pine cushions are identical products: Depending on the country and region, the term "Swiss stone pine pillow" or the term "Swiss stone pine pillow" is more common. Swiss stone pine pillows offer many advantages over conventional pillows and pillows: among other things, they guarantee deep relaxation and thus enable deep, restful sleep.
What advantages do Swiss stone pine pillows offer?

Swiss stone pine pillows make it easier to fall asleep
Swiss stone pine pillows prolong the deep sleep phase
Swiss stone pine pillows relax the autonomic nervous system
Swiss stone pine pillows reduce tension
Swiss stone pine pillows lower the heart rate
Swiss stone pine pillows reduce sensitivity to the weather
Swiss stone pine pillows stabilize the circulation

How do Swiss stone pine cushions work?
Swiss stone pine pillows are a blessing for everyone : they help teething babies , stressed managers and women going through the menopause to get a deep, healthy and restful sleep . Scientists from the Human Research Institute for Health Technology and Prevention Research have discovered this in a study.
People who sleep in a Swiss stone pine bed have a significantly slower heartbeat than those who sleep in a conventional bed. If you extrapolate the number of beats saved over the course of a day, you arrive at 3,500 beats or 1 hour per day that the heart has to beat less. You can feel the difference: you are significantly less stressed, more relaxed and calmer.
Swiss stone pine wood has a very unique taste: it smells a little like dried pine needles with a hint of vanilla. It contains essential oils, resin and pinosylvin. Pinosylvin protects Swiss stone pine from bacteria and fungi. In humans, pinosylvin promotes health and well-being: It calms and lifts the mood. Pinosylvin has a particularly positive effect on the cardiovascular system and on the duration and depth of sleep.
For this reason, there are more and more products made from Swiss stone pine. In addition to beds, these include pillows and blankets filled with special Swiss stone pine shavings. They calm the vegetative nervous system, promote relaxation and thus enable deep, long and healthy sleep.
People who suffer from sensitivity to the weather also appreciate the calming effect of Swiss stone pine pillows: As soon as they have replaced their old pillow with a Swiss stone pine pillow, they no longer feel the capricious weather. Or at least less intensely than before. Instead, they sink into a long, deep and restful sleep.
Which Swiss stone pine pillows are available?
Decorative pillows
Swiss stone pine pillows are available in various sizes both as decorative pillows and as sleeping pillows. As decorative pillows, they exude a discreet fragrance and contribute to a pleasant room climate. They are available in heart shapes , as cheerful monsters or in blue , green and red checkered Alpine chic. They are just as decorative as classic decorative cushions and are indistinguishable from a conventional decorative cushion.
Sleeping pillow
A Swiss stone pine pillow has the most positive effect on your health and well-being if you use it as a pillow when you sleep: Your head lies more or less directly on the Swiss stone pine flakes and your nasal mucous membranes can absorb the scent molecules every time you breathe.
You can enhance this effect by placing an additional pine-scented room diffuser in your bedroom. For this purpose, naturenpure offers special combination packs such as the " Good Night Set ". In addition to a Swiss stone pine cushion, it also contains a cube that can be filled with Swiss stone pine shavings. There is also a bottle of Swiss stone pine essential oil, which you can drizzle over the pine shavings from time to time. All products are also available individually and can be reordered at any time.
Allergy pillows
There are special Swiss stone pine pillows for allergy sufferers so that they don't have to do without the beneficial effects of Swiss stone pine pillows. The ultimate is the " 2 Queens " luxury pillow. It is made from Swiss stone pine, mountain sheep's wool, beeswax and Binapur.

Heat cushion
For people who like to put a warm pillow on their aching stomach or shoulders, special warming pill ows filled with Swiss stone pine balls are available. They smell wonderfully of Swiss stone pine after warming up. In addition to the soothing warmth, the pleasant scent of Swiss stone pine also helps to relax muscles, tendons and joints. So with a Swiss stone pine heating cushion you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone!
Neck pillow
Neck pillows are a special type of Swiss stone pine pillow. They ensure maximum relaxation of the neck and back muscles. Bolsters are ideal for reading and offer maximum comfort when traveling by car, train or plane. Neck pillows are also suitable for relaxation during therapeutic treatments such as massages.

Swiss stone pine pillow for children
A Swiss stone pine cushion for our loved ones is of course a must! The Swiss stone pine cushions "Mountain monster , Forest monster , Water monster " from zirb are specially made for children and are therefore hard-wearing, cuddly , stain-resistant and easy to clean. Another variant is the 20 x 30 cm penguin cushion with a back made of white faux fur.

How are Swiss stone pine cushions made?
The manufacturers of our Swiss stone pine cushions only use high-quality Swiss stone pine wood for the filling. It comes from healthy, strong trees and is dried in the fresh Alpine air and then carefully planed, cleaned and processed into high-quality Swiss stone pine wood flakes.
Swiss stone pines also grow in Russia and other countries. When buying Swiss stone pine cushions, make sure you know where the wood for the filling comes from. This is because the effect of Swiss stone pine wood from the Alps is many times greater than the effect of Swiss stone pine wood that has not been exposed to the harsh conditions of the Alps.

How do I find the perfect Swiss stone pine pillow?
The pillow is of the utmost importance for a peaceful, restful sleep. It's not for nothing that the saying goes: "How you make your bed is how you lie." If the size or filling of the pillow is not right, you often feel like you've been wiped out in the morning. Swiss stone pine pillows contribute greatly to a deep, healthy sleep. They are available in all standard sizes and can be filled exactly to your individual requirements.
Although a Swiss stone pine pillow is filled with supposedly hard Swiss stone pine wood shavings, you will not notice any difference to a conventional pillow filled with animal feathers or artificial fibers: Swiss stone pine pillows are just as comfortable and cuddly as any other pillow.
If the pillow is too hard or too thick for you, open the zipper and take out a few shavings. Put the shavings in your closet. The shavings will repel moths and give off a pleasant scent. If the pillow is too thin, you can make it thicker and firmer with additional shavings.
Side sleeper
Almost ⅔ of all people sleep on their side. Many side sleepers clutch their pillow while sleeping and pull their legs up. Because this looks like a fetus in the womb, the side sleeping position is also known as the "fetal position". Lying on your side relieves pressure on your back and allows you to breathe freely: intervertebral discs, ligaments and muscles can recover optimally during the night. The effect can be further enhanced with a Swiss stone pine pillow.
Side sleepers generally prefer a rather narrow pillow. For example 40 x 60 or 50 x 70 centimeters. The shoulder should not rest on the pillow so that the spine lies straight. If you like to compress the pillow when sleeping on your side, you should not fill it too full.
Stomach sleepers
One in ten people sleep with their legs stretched out on their stomach. The face is tilted downwards or to the side. This can lead to unpleasant tension in the neck and shoulders. Sleeping on your stomach is less healthy than sleeping on your back, as it puts unnecessary strain on the spine. Breathing is also usually severely impaired. People who sleep on their stomach usually tend to snore. A Swiss stone pine pillow can provide a certain degree of relaxation and ensure that stomach sleepers sleep more relaxed and wake up more refreshed in the morning. We recommend that people who sleep on their stomachs do not fill their Swiss stone pine pillow too full.
Back sleepers
People with stomach problems such as acid reflux usually like to sleep on their back: they lie with their head on the pillow, look up at the ceiling and stretch their legs. We advise people who like to sleep on their backs to use a narrow Swiss stone pine pillow measuring 40x60 centimetres with a normal filling.
Mixed sleepers
Most people wake up in the morning in a completely different position to the one they were in when they went to sleep. And that's a good thing: The movement during the night loosens the muscles and relaxes the ligaments and tendons.
However, if you are constantly tossing and turning during the night, you are putting too much strain on your body and should urgently switch to a Swiss stone pine pillow. It calms the autonomic nervous system and contributes greatly to a peaceful, relaxed sleep.
People who sleep with a Swiss stone pine pillow generally have significantly fewer physical complaints in the morning than people who go to bed with a traditional pillow. Mixed sleepers prefer a narrow, not too full pillow measuring 40 x 60 or 50 x 70 centimetres.
How often does the filling of a Swiss stone pine pillow need to be changed?
The effect of Swiss stone pine is unlimited: To ensure that your cushion does not lose too much of its fragrance, we recommend replacing the filling every 3 months. You can find various Swiss stone pine shavings for refilling in the naturenpure store.
The vast majority of Swiss stone pine cushions have an inner cushion with a zipper. This makes replacing the Swiss stone pine shavings child's play. To increase the effect, add a few drops of Swiss stone pine oil to the new filling.
Swiss stone pine: One tree. Many names: Swiss stone pine, stone pine, Swiss stone pine.
Depending on the region, the Swiss stone pine is also known as stone pine, Swiss stone pine or Swiss stone pine . The tree can live for up to 1,000 years . Swiss stone pine wood has been used to create a pleasant indoor climate since time immemorial, especially in the Alps.
In addition to the mountain air, Swiss stone pine pillows, Swiss stone pine beds and Swiss stone pine comforters play a decisive role in helping stressed people from the lowlands to sleep more deeply and better on vacation than at home.
Since more and more studies have proven the positive effect of Swiss stone pine wood on health and well-being , more and more people in the lowlands are also using Swiss stone pine products: Swiss stone pine beds, comforters and pillows already ensure a pleasant room climate and deep, restful sleep in many Swiss bedrooms.

Solve sleep problems - with Arvenduft you will sleep like a log.

Sleeping problems are annoying: if you can't fall asleep at night or wake up in the middle of the night, you are irritable, stressed and unfocused during the day - and of course tired. If you suffer from sleep problems for a long time, you can even become downright ill. The scent of pine has a calming effect. And lets you sleep like a log. In this article, you will learn 7 ways in which you can easily use arven scent in your everyday life to improve the quality of your sleep: 100% natural. 100% effective!

The Swiss stone pine is an evergreen tree. It grows throughout the Alps and in Switzerland is mainly found in the Engadin and Valais. In Germany and Austria, the trees are also known as Swiss stone pines. Swiss stone pines grow up to 25 meters high and can be up to 1,000 years old. Clusters of five needles grow on their short shoots. Swiss stone pines adapt to their surroundings like no other native tree: They nevertheless withstand wind and weather and even survive temperatures of -40°.

Even if they almost collapse under the weight of the heavy snow in winter, they straighten up again in spring and stand proudly in their place. However, if a branch breaks off or part of the trunk is torn away by an avalanche, the Swiss stone pine sprouts as if nothing had happened. As a result, Swiss stone pines often grow in bizarre shapes and have several trunks and many branches. Swiss stone pines grow where alpine roses and blueberries are also at home - and where no other native tree feels at home.

Swiss stone pine wood has a very special scent

Swiss stone pine wood contains essential oils. This gives the wood an antibacterial effect. For this reason, it is used for bread boxes , chopping boards and as mothballs , among other things. Our ancestors already knew about the calming effect of Swiss stone pine wood and furnished their bedrooms almost entirely with Swiss stone pine furniture. It was not uncommon for them to also cover the ceiling and walls with Swiss stone pine.

The branches, resin, needles and trunk of Swiss stone pines contain various essential oils with different scents. This oil has a positive effect on the quality of sleep. Maximilian Moser is a professor at the Medical University of Graz and heads the Human Research Institute for Health Technology and Prevention Research. He has been involved in numerous studies in which the positive effect of Swiss stone pine on the human body has been scientifically proven. He has compiled many of his findings in his book " The secret of Swiss stone pine ".

The scent of Swiss stone pine is good for the heart

The mild scent of Swiss stone pine is relaxing and promotes quality sleep. Particularly during the first sleep cycle, the scent of Swiss stone pine ensures a deep, restful sleep. The vegetative nervous system can recover and regenerate. The improved quality of sleep continues into the day: a heart that has been surrounded by arven fragrance during the night beats around 3,500 times less per day than a heart that has not been surrounded by arven fragrance during the night.
If you convert the slower heartbeat, this results in around 1 hour less heartbeat per day. People who sleep with the scent of Swiss stone pine wake up much more rested in the morning and can tackle the day in a good mood and full of energy. People who suffer from weather sensitivity also report significantly better sleep at night when they use the power of Swiss stone pine to improve the quality of their sleep.

Swiss stone pine furniture ensures a deep sleep

For a deep, restful sleep, there is nothing better than Swiss stone pine furniture. If you want to sleep soundly every night and wake up fresh and refreshed in the morning, investing in a Swiss stone pine bed , a Swiss stone pine chest of drawers or a Swiss stone pine bedside table will definitely pay off. A Swiss stone pine wardrobe can also contribute a great deal to a relaxed atmosphere in a bedroom. However, not everyone who suffers from sleep problems can or wants to completely redecorate their entire bedroom. For these people, there are various products made from Swiss stone pine that can achieve a similar effect to Swiss stone pine furniture.

7 x better sleep with the scent of Swiss stone pine

1. Sleep with a Swiss stone pine pillow

Swiss stone pine comforters and Swiss stone pine pillows are filled with Swiss stone pine shavings . They exude a delicate pine scent throughout the night, promoting deep, healthy sleep. The Swiss stone pine shavings come from particularly intensely fragrant Swiss stone pines. They are planed on site and dried in the fresh Alpine air. at first glance, "wood shavings in a pillow" sounds like a hard, uncomfortable pillow. But this impression is deceptive: Swiss stone pine pillows are wonderfully comfortable and offer exactly the same sleeping comfort as traditional pillows and pillows.

Swiss stone pine pillows are available in many different sizes and designs. For example, as pillows (50 x 70 centimetres) and as cushions (40 x 40 centimetres). Experience has shown that children prefer Swiss stone pine cushions with cheerful monsters . Even allergy sufferers do not have to do without the sleep-promoting effect of Swiss stone pine pillows. If you prefer to sleep with a bolster instead of a pillow and pillows, you can also find products with Swiss stone pine filling .

2. Sleep with a Swiss stone pine comforter

You can enhance the effect of a Swiss stone pine pillow with an Arvenduvet . It is available as a year-round comforter , as an extra warm winter comforter and as a special comforter with pure new sheep's wool for people who suffer from rheumatism or sweat heavily at night. The unique combination of Swiss stone pine and pure new sheep's wool has a temperature-regulating effect, preventing moisture or heat build-up. The discreet scent of Swiss stone pine ensures relaxation and a deep, restful sleep.

3. Place your smartphone in the Nightholder

No question: cell phone radiation is not exactly conducive to deep, restful sleep. Nevertheless, many people cannot and do not want to switch off their cell phone at night. For example, because they are on call (towing service, fire department, health service) or because they want or need to be available for children or elderly people. The " ArvenNightholder " is the perfect solution for them: the holder for smartphones made of Swiss stone pine wood was developed by a hotelier and reduces cell phone radiation by 75 %. It also has a tray for Swiss stone pine shavings .

The Nightholder has a closed and an open side and is placed next to the bed. The open side guarantees full reception. The closed side provides reliable protection against mobile phone radiation. The University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich has tested the Nightholder and confirmed its protection against cell phone radiation. To maintain the relaxing pine scent, simply drizzle a few drops of pine oil onto the pine flakes from time to time.

4. Set up a Swiss stone pine scented candle

Prepare yourself early for a relaxing night: Place a pine-scented candle on the table at dinner and scatter several pine-scented candles around the living room as it gets dark. This will conjure up a relaxing atmosphere in your living room, allowing you to wind down and slowly but surely get in the mood for a deep, restful sleep. The handmade kerosene scented candles are palm oil-free and also ensure long-lasting freshness and a pleasant room climate.

5. Take a Swiss stone pine bath before going to bed

If you treat yourself to a 40° warm relaxing bath 1 ½ hours before going to bed, you will lie awake for 10 minutes less. This is the interesting result of a study published in the journal " Sleep Medicine Reviews ". As a rule, the temperature inside the body drops about an hour before the usual bedtime. It reaches its lowest point in the middle of the night. This process can be simulated by taking a bath 90 minutes before going to bed: The blood vessels in the hands and feet dilate; blood circulation increases. To achieve the desired effect, the interval between bathing and going to bed should not be longer than 90 minutes. If you use a Swiss stone pine bath instead of a conventional bubble bath, you can enhance the positive effect of the "bedtime bath".

6. Pamper your body with a fluid after bathing

Everyone should rub their skin once a day with a cream or fluid to provide the skin with lasting moisture. Oils are less suitable. This is because they do not have the same effect. Make sure that you apply cream to your skin at least 3 minutes after bathing to achieve the greatest possible effect. After that, the lotion can no longer penetrate the skin as well. You can kill two birds with one stone pine lotion . On the one hand, you give your skin long-lasting moisture. On the other hand, the pine scent provides additional relaxation and therefore optimal preparation for the upcoming sleep.

7. Place a Swiss stone pine cube or cuboid next to the bed

With a Swiss stone pine cube or cuboid , you can bring the scent of Swiss stone pine into your bedroom, bathroom or any other place. And with it the sleep-promoting effect of Swiss stone pine. Whether at the headboard, on the bedside table or next to the bed: with their simple design, Swiss stone pine cubes cut a fine figure on bedroom furniture. If the scent of the pine shavings wears off after a while, simply drizzle a few drops of pine oil onto the flakes . And your bedroom will smell wonderfully of Swiss stone pine again.

                 The stone pine tree
Many names, the same meaning. Swiss stone pine, stone pine, Zirm, Zirbel, Zirbelkiefer, Bergkiefer or Dschember are all terms for the stone pine tree. Scientists also like to use the term Pinus Cembra.

The Swiss stone pine is a type of tree that is mainly found above 1,600 meters above sea level , in the Alps or Carpathians, the roughest and coldest mountain edges. Where it gets warmer it disappears. The Swiss stone pine, the softest of all conifers, tolerates acidic soils better than most tree species. According to estimates, this rare tree species can reach an age of up to 800 years, although this is the exception. On average, the Swiss stone pine lives to be 200 to 400 years old and grows up to 25 meters tall.
Due to the great stresses in the mountains caused by the seasons, the Swiss stone pine tree produces a particularly large amount of resins and essential oils . These have a distinctive, pleasant fragrance and also improve sleep quality and regeneration .
☛ "The Swiss stone pine attracts us humans, it simply does us good", Ing.Dr.Erwin Thoma in The secret language of trees
Properties of Swiss stone pine wood
